John McGregor built and operated a carding mill on this lot on the Fall River from 1856 – 1871. He then leased it to Francis Blair by 1871.
The mill was sold to James Archibald Ure who operated it as a carding mill from 1871 – 1884, and then as a custom carding and woolen mill from 1884 – 1918.
