Open Tuesday to Sunday 10am - 4pm

Intermediate knitting. Knitting 201. Susan Berlin of Dunrobin teaches more than the basics.

People say to me all the time” I know how to knit and purl…but that’s all. I wish I could knit all those beautiful fancy patterns with cables …and lace…and different colours. I’ve looked at some of the patterns and I don’t know what they’re talking about! “

Here’s the secret: if you can knit and purl, you can do any kind of knitting, because that’s all there is.  And as for those weird pattern instructions? They’re just abbreviations!

In four hours you will learn how cables work, the basics of lace knitting, including yarn-overs, increasing, decreasing, how to use circular needles, to knit ‘flat’ or ‘in the round’, and managing several kinds of multi-colour work. Patterns will be de-mystified and several will be made available for you to work on.

Please bring with you: a light coloured yarn in DK or worsted weight (preferably wool or a wool blend; they are easier to work with), a contrasting yarn in the same weight for colour work, a pair of straight needles., a circular needle and a set of double pointed needles, all in a size suitable for your yarn. If you have small scissors, a cable needle and a wool needle that would be great but I have some so if you don’t it’s no great matter.

Registration: $45.00 Kit: None.

Duration: 4 hours 10am – 2pm Saturday Sept 9 in the Arena. Bring lunch and a mug/Tea room also available.
